STAFF
David Sheridan is the Artistic Director of The Festival Singers. He currently serves as the Director of Music and Liturgy at Church of the Messiah (Episcopal) in Santa Ana, CA, where he is finishing his eleventh season. David has over thirty years’ experience as a choral musician, conductor, and educator on the East and West Coasts. Born in Atlanta and growing up in various parts of the Southeast, he has long nurtured a love and interest in choral music of many genres. David attended the College of Music at Florida State University where he studied instrumental music, conducting, voice and organ, completing a Bachelors in Music Education and a Bachelor of Arts in History. After moving to Southern California in 1996, he earned his Ph.D in History from the University of Southern California with a concentration in European cultural and music history. In addition to his musical life, David serves as a full-time faculty member in the History Dept at California State University- Long Beach, a role he has filled since 2006.
Carol Roman holds music degrees in piano performance and composition from California State University, Fullerton, and received her teaching credential through California State University, Long Beach. She is an accomplished pianist and keyboardist. She has performed and recorded in Europe and the Middle East, and has been singled out for her unique piano arrangements, which combine a strong classical technique with a remarkable gift for improvisation. Carol has released four CD’s: “Broadway & Romance”; a CD of winter holiday music called “Carol’s Christmas”, and two original CD’s, one a live performance called “Show Me the Way”, and the latest, “Going Home, Songs of Comfort”, written in memoriam for people close to her heart.
