A program reflecting on 42 years of Festival Singers’ favorite music and looking forward to the next 42 years. The Festival Singers was founded by a group of singers wanting to do a variety of musical styles from Bach to Broadway. Their repertoire includes music from Broadway, classical and sacred selections, spirituals, folk music, patriotic music and music from The Great American Songbook. Gary Toops, who will retire at the end of this season, has served as the Artistic Director since the group began in 1982. A new Artistic Director will be announced at today’s program.
Lisa Naulls has been a member of the Los Angeles Chamber Singers and the Albert McNeil Jubilee Singers and has toured the United States, Asia, Israel, Europe, and South America. She has been a featured soloist at the Verizon amphitheater, the OC Performing Arts Center, Hollywood Bowl and Carnegie Hall, and has sung with numerous philharmonic orchestras in Hawaii, Berlin and Vienna. Her operatic credits include playing lead roles in The Marriage of Figaro, The Magic Flute, Die Fledermaus, Amahl and the Night Visitors, and Porgy and Bess. Ms. Naulls has a B.A. in English Literature from Stanford University and a Masters in Music, Vocal Performance from UCLA. She is the alto soloist and Middle School Music Teacher for St. John Chrysostom Episcopal Church and School in Rancho Santa Margarita.
